Best bang for your buck

If you’re looking for the top place in the Greater Toronto Area to buy real estate, look no further than Oshawa.

That’s according to MoneySense magazine, which rated Oshawa and the surrounding region as the top place in the area to buy a home. Overall, Oshawa was rated ninth out of 35 cities across the country.

According to the study, the average home price in Oshawa is $439,842, with an appreciation of eight per cent over five years.

“Oshawa has a robust housing market with both existing home sales and sales in new subdivisions,” states Councillor John Aker, chair of the development services committee, in a news release. “There is excellent choice and value for home buyers who want to live in a healthy, safe and progressive community.
