Bank robbed at knifepoint

Durham police were on scene shortly after a man in a balaclava robbed the TD Bank on Ritson Road North at Five Points Mall, just south of Taunton Road. Eyewittnesses at the scene say the suspect held the teller at knifepoint and demanded cash. A subsequent search of the area of Durham police’s K-9 unit did not locate the suspect.

There were no reported physical injuries after a Ritson Road bank was robbed at knifepoint.
Eyewitnesses at the scene told The Oshawa Express that a man wearing a balaclava entered the TD Bank on Ritson Road North at Five Points Mall, just south of Taunton Road, and held a knife to one of the cashiers and demanded cash. After getting the money from the teller, the suspect was seen rushing out of the branch before running westwards across Ritson.
Sgt. Bill Calder, a spokesperson for Durham police, says the suspect headed west on the footpath south of Pentland Avenue, on the west side of Ritson. He adds that Durham police’s K-9 unit searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Nobody was physically injured as a result of this robbery.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately five feet and eight inches tall with a muscular build, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, tan pants, white gloves and a black balaclava.
