Arrest made in Pickering homicide

The Durham Regional Police have arrested a 71-year-old man in relation to a homicide in Pickering on July 27.

Ganesh Persaud of Brandy Court in Pickering, is charged with second degree murder. He was held for a bail hearing.

On July 27, police were called to a residence on Brandy Court to check on the well-being of the occupants. When officers arrived they discovered the body of a 70-year-old female with obvious signs of trauma. Investigators believe the incident was a domestic dispute.

The victim Bodwatie Persaud was pronounced at the scene.

This is the seventh homicide in Durham Region in 2017.
