Arrest made in Beaverton homicide

The Durham Regional Police have arrested a 24-year-old male for the May stabbing death of Joshua Elliott in Beaverton.

The DRPS announced today that Lucas Bovell, was arrested on June 26 in Toronto. He is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Elliott . He was returned to Durham Region and will appear for a bail hearing.

The death occurred following a disturbance among several men in downtown Beaverton on Friday, May 26, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Officers were called to a disturbance in the downtown area where a male was seen collapsed on Dundas Street. The 21-year-old male victim was rushed to hospital in Orillia, but later succumbed to his injuries.
