After a long and courageous battle against cancer, it is with heavy hearts we announce that Rae Stuart Tregunna has passed away on Sunday, July 24th, 2016. Less than one month from his 70th Birthday, on August 13th.

Rae was the beloved companion, best friend, and partner of Valerie Knapp. Dearly loved Father of Cyndi Ritskes and her husband Stephen, and, Michael Tregunna and his wife Gillian. Much loved Grandfather of Cheryl, Mark and Alisha Ritskes, and Jake and Justin Tregunna.
Son of the late Albert and the late Ethel Tregunna. Dear brother of the late: Vivian (2016), Lorne (2014), and Cliff (2014); survived by his siblings John, and his wife Anne, Mavis Weeks, and Keith, and his wife Dianne. Rae will be missed by Buddy.

Rae was a strong man who worked hard his whole life. Starting at a very young age, and throughout his youth, Rae worked on the farm with his family. As an adult he worked mainly in the transportation industry, including at ICL where he enjoyed travelling across Canada and the United States. Up until he was too ill, Rae enjoyed meeting with his former co-workers for coffee.

Rae was the Owner and Operator of Daytona Trailer Rentals. Rae started the business on his own and made it successful, making him proud of what he had accomplished. Rae’s determination, belief in hard work, and going the extra mile all contributed to Daytona’s success.

Rae was a baseball fan. He was the pitcher in a fastball league for several years. A highlight was the year his team won the championship.

In January 2012, Rae was diagnosed with colon cancer. After chemotherapy, radiation, and two surgeries, the cancer spread to his lungs and continued to spread despite every effort to stop it. Rae was a fighter right to the end.

Rae was fun-loving and his sense of humour made us smile. We treasure the wonderful memories we have of him.
